A highlighter as glam as a Bar of Gold! This skin gilding powder creates a envious flawless sheen and its made me love Charlotte Tilbury even more.
Its come to my attention that out of my makeup stash, highlighters are possibly overtaking my other items. Who knew a girl needed more highlighters than mascaras or blushes?!
One of my 21st birthday presents, Bar of Gold Skin Gilding Highlighter has been put into good use the past few weeks so I thought it was time it made an appearance on my blog.
For starters, how cute does it look? It literally fits in the palm of your hand and its definitely travel friendly. The highlighter is boxed in rose gold packaging and even has engraved Charlotte’s logo along with ‘Fine Gold 999.9’.
I had to stick with the rose gold theme in the photos but the bar of gold comes with magnetic closing so its easy to keep it protected. As the box notes, the highlighter looks beautiful on your cheekbones and cupids bow. With a single swipe, the highlighter is a true gold shade with a metallic effect. In the sun, it just glistens and looks great in all lighting, its not glittery its more a creamy sheen.
As its a birthday present, I can’t really talk about pricing but in my point of view as a treat – its worth it. I have highlighters from all price ranges and you can definitely see the quality in this. Even though its only little, I can see it lasting a lot longer due to the high pigment and it covering easily.
You get the golden goddess look so easily with this bar of gold!
To see the full effect of this skin gilding highlighter, I definitely recommend wearing it over a more dewy foundation. My Urban Decay and YSL foundations compliment this so well.
As you can see on the swatch and a quick swipe over my makeup, you can see its quite subtle. The highlighter looks quite dramatic in the box but once applied you can make it subtle or build to the chosen look. I would definitely hold my hands up and say its up there with Mary Lou (here) and that’s my fave. This is definitely going to be put to good use in Ibiza.
Have you tried Bar of gold? Would you?
