An update on my beauty routine

beauty skincare routine

Let’s chat about my go-to beauty essentials!

It’s been far too long since I’ve done a dedicated makeup post! Like far too long! So strap in as I guide you through my current go-to products for my beauty routine.

I’ve been asked recently what beauty products I use for my usual makeup look. So here they are! This is everything from my daily mascara to primer and highlighter. If you’ve followed me for a while you’ll notice some trusty favourites – but also new additions too!

Beauty Base

I’ve tried quite a few primers over the years but I’m really loving the NYX Marshmellow primer. This is a pink creamy-mallow primer that glides like a dream. It helps make my skin feel soft and supple ready for your foundation. It’s actually really moisturising and not drying at all. If I feel like I want more hydration, I’ve been using the Fenty Skin moisturiser underneath my foundation too. It works pretty well as a primer. As I’m combination skin it depends on how oily/dry my skin is. I do really like it as a skincare product but that is another post entirely.

Let me know if you’d like me to do an updated skincare routine in the comments!

My all-time favourite foundation is the YSL Touche Eclat foundation (click here for an in-depth review). I’ve worn this foundation for around 8 years now! Nothing beats it for me. It makes me feel glowy, it has a dewy look to it. But it can be built to be matte too. The staying power on this is insane!

For my concealer, I use my trusty Revolution Conceal & Hydrate. As the name suggests I use this concealer for my dark circles and blemishes. I find this blends easily and doesn’t crack. For the price it’s great!

I use the Too Faced Peach Perfect setting powder to set my foundation and concealer. This smells gorgeous which is always a bonus. This helps create a matte look and my makeup does not budge- at all! Fabulous for when you want your makeup to last day and night.

Beauty Powders

Now onto my favourite powders! For my day-to-day bronzer, I use the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Bronzer (review here). This is a really natural-looking bronzer that works with or without self-tan. It blends well and is buildable. I’ve been using the Fenty Beauty Killawatt duo. As you can see above this features two soft highlighters. One is more matte and subtle whereas the other is a gorgeous champagne shade. I use this day-to-day on my cheeks, brow bone, nose and forehead.

My other fave highlighter is the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk multi-glow but I use this more as a bronzer. This has multi-tones of shimmer and is gorgeous as a final powder on the apple of my cheeks! Perfect for a golden glow as part of my beauty routine!

For blusher, I use my all-time favourite Nars Orgasm blush. If you want to see an old review from the archives click here. It’s the perfect shade for me for a pop of pink and has a gorgeous shimmer to it. If you’re wondering I do sometimes use the bronzer attached when I’m away but it’s not a go-to like the others.

Eye Makeup

Let’s talk eyes! I use various eyeshadow palettes. I couldn’t even tell you how many I own! But the one I’ve been using for the last three years is the Huda Beauty Nude palette. I love a rose gold/ mauve pink look and this has everything I need. The shadows are really soft and buildable. And the glitters are just insane! I always get complimented on my eyes using this palette and it’s worth every penny.

For mascara, I’m still obsessed with the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara (review here). It creates long thick lashes that last all day. I’ve worn this for years and it’s definitely a daily staple. However, I do want to introduce a good contender here. I picked up the Nars Climax mascara last year and I’m sold. This one is very similar to Too Faced but does give more definition for a nighttime look. I don’t think I could pick between them so I thought I’d feature both! Finally, you can’t go wrong with eyeliner. I use the Revolution Renaissance Flick eyeliner. It’s a felt tip application for easy flicks and cat eyes. It dries quickly and doesn’t crack!

Final touches

Here’s my beauty routine look using all the products mentioned. For the final touches, I use the Revolution Glow Fix setting spray and my all-time favourite lipstick by Charlotte Tilbury. I use the shade Secret Salma and it’s the perfect rose pink that’s subtle for through-the-day and nighttime makeup.

This is the look I went for, both days when we were in Edinburgh recently. I also have to mention this gorgeous new coat that’s become a staple in my wardrobe! I’ve never owned a padded jacket like this before but it was perfect in Edinburgh to keep me warm and cosy when we were shopping and day drinking. It’s from Lighthouse and the jacket is called Laurel.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my current beauty routine!
