While I was in Manchester last weekend for the Northern Blog Awards I treated myself to some new beauty…
You could say this was some retail therapy after travelling down to Manchester for the award I was shortlisted for ‘Best Beauty Blog‘. unfortunately I didn’t win but I was so thankful to be shortlisted, all your votes meant a lot!
The venue and night on a whole was stunning and it felt lovely to be a VIP for one night. Anyway back to beauty, I had the mindset that shopping would be involved but lets face it, Manchester’s shops are SO much better than the ones I have in my hometown – so I went a bit wild.
We popped into Harvey Nichols and seen the Fenty Beauty collection up close, and to be honest I was a little underwhelmed.. I was expecting more really, the highlighters and that looked beautiful but I just couldn’t justify paying when I knew I had stuff with a cheaper price tag. As I’m a dewy coverage kind of girl, the foundation being matte didn’t appeal to me either! We then walked along to Selfridges where I finally picked up one of Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Lips. I wanted one for so long but needed to see the colours in person,I decided to go for ‘Dangerous Liason’ which is a deep burgundy red, perfect for autumn and winter. I actually wore it on a night out last night and it lasted the whole night, it doesn’t feel dry or crumbly like some liquid lipsticks do after a while.
I’ve mentioned on here a few times of my TKmaxx discoveries and well I couldn’t resist this Laura Geller Mediterranean Journey set. It was £40 which I think really reasonable for a powder foundation, eyeshadow duo, eyeliner, lip crayon, bronzer and two-sided brush. Of course the bronzer drew me in with the gorgeous packaging. As you’ll see in the swatch below it’s not as dark as I was expecting and has a subtle shimmer in it!
I also popped into Debenhams and picked up another YSL Foundation in shade B60 and the Touche Eclat Blur Primer. I’ve only ever had samples of the primer and if you spend over £50 you got £10 beauty points so it was rude not to! I’ve said on here loads that this foundation is my favourite, I always go back to it when I’ve tried others so I’m exciting to try it with the primer.
I’ve been wanting to try Lush’s Jelly Bombs for a while now and we had a lovely experience with Lush Arndale. They showed us how they worked along with some other beauty products I’d never seen before, did you know they did highlighters? Noo me neither. I picked up Marmalade and the Big Sleepy Jelly – they smell amazing!
Finally I went along to Primark and picked up some gorgeous Disney goodies and the mermaid makeup brush. For £5 I couldn’t resist. I think I’ll be instagramming the Disney clothing I picked up as well as the thumper snood soon so keep a look out!
So there you have it, my new beauty buys! Without even trying all the products go together with the packaging. The scarf featured I also picked up from Primark too. I’m looking forward to starting to create Autumn and Halloween inspired posts so do keep checking back!
Have you tried any of these?
