Who doesn’t love a cocktail or two? How about with a magical twist accompanied with a bite to eat?

We recently got invited to The Alchemist in Newcastle to sample their food menu and expertly crafted drinks selection. Sounds great right?

Having visited The Alchemist a few times now, I was excited to have the opportunity to visit again. The Alchemist’s drinks menu features creative cocktails which are served with a dash of theatre by skilled mixologists.

So you definitely feel like you’re drinking a potion from Harry Potter! Plus they make great Instagram stories too!

Food and drinks

We got shown to our table and ordered a round of drinks. So for our first tipple, I opted for the She’s Electric cocktail. This contained Rum, Mango, Grapefruit and.. thunder air. This was mixed to create a red foam! Bob chose the Bubblebath that creates a heck lot of bubbles! With Gin, Aperol, Chambord and apple. Both tasted refreshing!

For our mains, I went for a light bite option with the Crispy Pork Belly with sweetcorn puree and red pepper coulis. The meat just melted in your mouth! Bob decided on the Lamb Rump & Kofta. Which is like a Turkish kebab with houmous and basmati rice.

After our main meal, we decided to try a sharer cocktail. We picked the Mad Hatter and it’s exactly how you’d imagine. The botanical juices are warmed up then served in teacups with a lot of smoke!

It took a while for the smoke to settle before we dug in. The Mad Hatter contains Vodka and Summer Fruits. It tasted really nice after some food as a dessert drink.

The food and drinks menu is reasonable too which mains on average costing £12 and the cocktails from £7. So you can go here at any time of the day for a casual meal or drinks.

Once again The Alchemist didn’t disappoint! If you fancy something a bit different from the norm – try it. You won’t have to look far as they are based all across the country.
