When it comes to foundation, my holy grail has got to be a medium dewy coverage, so when Vichy kindly sent me their new Dermablend range I was skeptic to see how it would feel on my skin.
I’m always up for trying new products when it comes to the face and for such a well-known brand like Vichy, I had to see what it was all about! I haven’t yet tried any of their range but Dermablend is something I’ve been familiar with in the blogosphere. Their full coverage foundation seems to be a hit with a lot of people so I was excited to see how it looked on my skin, I always worry full coverage can look cakey or dry my skin!
When I received the setting powder too, a lot of people immediately said how good it was for setting and blending the foundation, something I’ve never tried myself. Don’t get me wrong I’ve dried dozens of powders to set the foundation but not a specific setting powder like this where it’s a universal shade.
The Vichy Dermablend range has had a total revamp and I’m loving the new packaging, its simple and sleek but it does look luxurious. Its well put together especially the setting powder, it comes in a sturdy box and I just think it looks so expensive looking. The foundation has a screw top which is easy to apply but the nozzle definitely doesn’t keep clean with the left over foundation.
The Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation* is now available in 8 shades. I had to look into what shade I was and I ended up picking Sand 35 which is in the middle of the range. I’m not pale but not dark either but as you can see the foundation is a little dark on the swatch but once blended it works fine – even better when I have self tan on. So straight away you can see with one swipe how well it covers, I was amazed actually how thick it was but in a good way! It’s very matte though so if you don’t like them types of foundation I wouldn’t recommend it.
At this time of year my skin is a lot drier but this foundation still fit so well on me. I tended to use this foundation while I was at work – to see its durability, I work next to ovens all day and honestly it did not budge all day, even my colleagues said how good my skin looked. For £18 and 30ml of product it definitely is justifiable and will last you about the same as any other foundation I think. If your like me and prone to a breakout now and then, this will be your best friend. This foundation came at the right time for me, I had a few stress spots and they did cover them so easily.
Dermablend hasn’t fully converted me to full coverage but it’s certainly opened my eyes and I definitely feel I’ll make use of this when I need something to last all day & night for you party goers. Its more of a winter choice than summer.
Dermablend Setting Powder* is something I’d wear all year round personally. It definitely stops the foundation from cracking and it works perfect with another foundation too. in hotter weather, especially on holiday i can imagine this being my saviour to soak up any oil and stop my makeup from melting off! The powder is white but soon transforms into an invisible coating on your skin. The applicator that comes with it didn’t work too well for me so I used a buffer brush for a light coverage.
I’m glad I got the opportunity to try this powder, it’s definitely something I’d continue to use now in part of my beauty regime. It retails around £11-17 which is a good price for a powder that will last a while.
I’m really impressed with how well I got on with the new Dermablend products, Its persuaded me to try some of their skin care range now and see what else they offer. Have you ever tried Vichy or their Dermablend range?
