There’s nothing like a good’old beauty haul to brighten up your makeup stash. We all know how easy it is pass Boots and walk out with over £70 worth of products. Oops.
Whether your on a lunch break in town or online shopping, it’s so easy for your computer to direct you to Boots and make a cheeky purchase. Excuses aside, I felt like it was about time I’d tried some NYX and specifically their lip creams. After hearing how good they were I picked up two shades and I could of quite simply ordered more.
Well it didn’t stop there, I ended up buying some colour correcting stuff, liquid highlighter and a contour stick. There is a couple of products I’ve left out of this haul actually but only because I’m saving them for a separate post.. So keep a look out.
Since trying out Stila’s One step correct (here) I’ve been fascinated by colour correcting products. With all this uni stress, I’ve noticed my skin is suffering from redness and breakouts and the colour green is meant to minimise this. Soap & Glory Kick Ass Anti-Redness Concealer hides the appearance of redness and even has aloe vera extract to soothe the skin. The stick formula makes it so easy to apply (long-lasting) and blends in before and after foundation, a complexion saviour if you ask me.
So the NYX Lip creams are in between a lipgloss and a lipstick. If you’ve ever tried YSL lip stains, these are very similar. So they apply smoother like a gloss but set and look more like a lipstick. All in all I think they are a great little lip product to pop in your bag for a touch up throughout the day. They smell great too. I’ve been using them on their own or on top of my fave lipsticks. I picked up Ibiza and Stockholm. My friend knows how much I love velvet teddy (here) and she insisted I get stockholm, and as you can see it is a very similar shade. Ibiza I kind of got because its one of my fave places, but also due to the stunning bright pink colour – perfect for summer.
My first ever YSL blusher. Their Fushion Ink Blush in Spicy Vibes is a lightweight liquid blush that glides perfectly over their foundation. The good thing about this blush is its buildable, a little drop can be a subtle glow but the more you apply you can see a gorgeous summer blush that lasts all day. Need to be quick to blend it though as it sets pretty quick.
Another palette I’m excited to use is the Collection #ConcealAndLightLikeAPro. 8 cream shades featuring; green for redness, purple for fatigue, yellow for dark circles and 6 shades for contouring/conceal. This palette contains shades I think will fit with most if not all skin colours, theres light enough shades for highlight with one quite shimmery and shades dark enough for a cream bronzer. I will have to see if these blend well with foundation but I do prefer creams to powders.
I like using lots of different formulas for contouring so I was excited to try NYX Wonder Stick in Medium. If I’m honest I’m a little underwhelmed by this. It swatches so good as you can see but as soon as you apply it to your face and blend it, it disappears. If you’ve applied primer and foundation and use this, hardly any product appears. So, not giving up on this just yet, I tried the contouring before foundation and that was fine but as soon as my base product was applied.. you couldn’t tell I’d contoured. Has anyone else found this? It certainly didn’t do wonders for me.
And finally Sleek‘s Luminaire Highlighter Concealer. As soon as I seen this I thought it could be like my trusted touche eclat? I haven’t used this properly yet but from the swatch above, the texture felt very similar and creamy. So far so good.
Overall I’m pretty happy with my makeup haul. Have you tried any of these products? What do you recommend me to try next?
