My 5 Favourite Self Tans

My 5 Favourite Self Tans

A lot of people swear by Self Tan to give us that sunkissed glow. So with so many brands and versions available, I’ve decided to show you all my fake tan collection and I’ve narrowed it down to my Favourite Top 5.

My 5 Favourite Self Tans

Self tan, fake tan, body bronze… However you want to call it, it can be addictive and probably most of us would held their hands up and say we’ve overloaded it on more than one occassion. Orange!

Now, I’ve tried a lot of brands and products over the years from lotions, mousses to sprays. So when it comes to brands I have my go-to or best choices. A lot of people ask me whats the best you’ve used? Hows the application? How long does it last?

Well hopefully this post should answer all your questions, hopefully your favourite is featured here or if your after trying something new – read on!

My 5 Favourite Self Tans

St. Moriz

This is definitely one if not the first tan I tried, so the fact its featured in this post says a lot. Now, only is it extremely good value for under £5, it also gives an instant bronzed look. I’ve tried their spray and mouse but my favourite has to be the Tanning lotion. Its easy to apply and soaks in really easy and quick. The tan is instant but by the next day you are a couple of shades darker – after a shower you are the perfect colour in my opinion. So this lotion I recommend using two days before an occassion, wash it off the next day and you’ll have a lovely tan for a few days. The only bad thing I’d say is it doesn’t come off as easy as others but as long as you moisturise and exfoliate!

Cocoa Brown

I’ve used Cocoa Brown for nearly three years now and their Bronzing Gel in matte has to be my favourite. This instant tan also comes in shimmer which is lovely for your legs. So this bronzing gel is instant tan that you can use and wash off the same day. The good thing about this is you can make your desired shade and with the matte effect it dries quick and looks natural. Of course with wash off tans, be careful for any spillages, this doesn’t look too bad if the tan gets wet but its just a thing to bare in mind. Detailed review here.

Vita Liberata

This Luxury Tan in sheer is the fastest drying mousse I’ve ever tried. This is the tan I’m currently using and I used it for my 21st birthday for a natural looking glow. One of the most expensive tans I’ve used but I’ve noticed such a difference. Out of all the tans I’ve tried, this is the only one that lasts long and comes off nice and naturally! No patchiness and just simply exfoliates off – so so easy. I’ll be wearing this for my graduation I think.

St Tropez

The only self tan spray I swear by. The Classic Self tan Bronzing Mist is the only spray I’ve used that matches the quality of a lotion or mousse. This gives such a deep colour but again once you’ve washed the next day your left with such a lovely sunkissed glow. I just wish it would disappear like Vita Liberata, it needs a lot of exfoliation!

Finally, one of the newest body bronzes but it has done well to make it on the list! So the Hoola Zero Tanlines acts as a body bronzer but it can look nice on its own or teamed with an existing tan. The tanning gel can be built for your desired shade and smells so nice for fake tan. It dries really quick and its just perfect for on the go for an instant bronze. I’m 100% gonna take this on holiday for the night time and it just washes off. This is the only one I’ve noticed that even with spillages and contact with water, it doesn’t fade or budge! Win win. Detailed review here.

I swear by St. Tropez but I use the mousse. I apply it a couple of days before a night out. It’s really dark like you say when you first apply it but it washes off after leaving it overnight, leaving be perfect tan!

I used to wear St. Moriz ALL the time when I was younger but I just can’t get away with the smell it leaves on your skin these days :’)

Great post – life is defo better with a tan!

St Moriz is one of the first I tried too, but I haven’t tried the lotion yet! I’ve started using the Cocoa Brown mousse lately though and really like it. Haven’t went streaky yet! I have loads of instant tans but I never ever remember to use them! xx
