Urban Decay | Moondust

The out of this world Moondust palette needs to be in your makeup collection!

img_2442img_2454Urban Decay | MoondustWith 8 brand new iridescent metallic shades, I was very excited when I opened this on Christmas day.

I’ve wanted to try this palette for sooo long but of course I had to wait till Christmas. I’ve seen a lot of people say how good this palette is, and it’s not hard to see why it’s so popular!

A while ago I reviewed the Liquid Moondust versions of these but I have to say, these shades are magical. I mean Urban Decay are known for their high quality, high pigmented shadows so I knew these glittery galaxies will be lust worthy.

Frist off, I love the packaging, anything covered in glitter is a win win for me. The 8 shades are packaged in this sturdy box with a fitted mirror that allows for easy application. This however doesn’t come with a brush like most of their palettes do, I think a glittery brush would have been a nice touch.

So Urban Decay describe these dazzling shades as microfine bits of sparkle with a lush 3-D metallic finish. With just one single swipe, the amount of sparkle there is too it, is unbelievable. It’s not chunky glitter, it’s very fine and can look gorgeous for a little speckle or for the full sweep on the eyelid.

My top tip for applying these shadows is with setting spray, the colour comes out so much more dense and the glitter stays put to, so no fall out.Interestingly though, on the back of the box UD recommends that you use your fingers to apply than a brush, but I think either is fine!

Even in natural day light the shimmer on these is just beautiful! So left to right we have Specter, element, magnetic and lightyear.

Specter – A soft pink with tonal sparkle – perfect inner eye shade

Element – A peachy pink with sparkle – in daylight this looks a golden orange

Magnetic – Purple with blue sparkle – Looks very similar to the Solstice shade

Lightyear – A vibrant green with silver sparkle

Then here we have Granite, Lithium, Vega and Galaxy.

Granite – Black with brown and golden sparkle – perfect for the smoky eye

Lithium – A antique gold brown with 3D sparkle – my favourite shade

Vega – Bright blue with silver sparkle – gorgeous foil effect shade

Galaxy – A smoky teal with 3D sparkle – my 2nd favourite shade

Over Christmas these shades were put into great use. On Boxing day I wore a green dress so I used Lightyear and Galaxy and I swear it complimented my dress so well! I’m really looking forward to wearing these more, even though their sparkly I think the bright shades can be used all year round.

Urban Decay never disappoint in my eyes, if you love glitter and find any excuse to wear it, you need to try this! Imagine the top colours in the summer! Moondust is definitely one of my favourite Christmas presents.

Have you got this? Would you try it?

I can’t wait to hear more about the ways you use this palette! I have a serious fear of using bright colours but really want to venture out a bit more! The pigmentation looks stunning and can see why it’s probably best to use a setting spray just to keep the glitter from going everywhere! xx
