I think it’s fair to say we’re all well overdue for a holiday, aren’t we?
So Hotels.com got in touch with me recently and asked what staycation plans I have for in the UK this year and my immediate answer was to rebook a visit to the Lake District and some more city breaks!
In collaboration with Hotels.com, but all views are my own.
We originally had Dublin booked last April before Covid-19 hit and had also discussed visiting other parts in the UK such as Edinburgh again and London for a few days. There are lots of places I want to book abroad too, of course when we can. Such as a city break to Rome and an all-inclusive escape to Greece, preferably Mykonos.
As my readers know, I’m an avid jetsetter for holidays and I have a big travel bucket list. But today I wanna chat about staycations and where I plan on visiting later in 2021….
My staycation ideas and plans..
First up is definitely a trip back to the Lakes. We last went in October 2019 and it was such a nice Autumn break. We were lucky enough to go as a press trip and stay in the Beech Hill Hotel. See review by clicking here. The quality of the food was something else! We’ve dined in a lot of places and we often say, the three course is STILL in our top favourites. So if you’re looking for a hotel in the Lake District that’s reasonable and has good food and a spa – I’d check it out. Plus its just a short 5 minute drive from Windermere so its in a perfect location!
My favourite city in the UK has to be Edinburgh, Scotland. I’ve been numerous times and it has so much to offer! If you get the train up everything from the station is so central so you don’t even need to use any transport. You’ve got all the shops, restaurants and pubs within walking distance. Plus on the other side you have the older part of the city such as the Royal Mile and the Castle. Which you can see in the back of the photo! We last visited for New Years Eve which they call Hogmanay. Read my review by clicking here. It was such a good night and I would thoroughly recommend when they re-launch it. If you go in the summer you’ve also got the Fringe Festival which is on througout August and this celebrates all enternatinment from comedians to plays and street acts.
Instead of reminiscing though, one place I haven’t been yet is anywhere in Wales! I noticed a lot of people went in 2020 for a staycation and its something I’d definitely consider later in the year. I’d love to go maybe September time when its a little less busy but the weather should still be nice. If any of you have any recommendations on wheres best to stay and any hotels please fire away in the comments!
I could easily think of more places in the UK I want to visit! So in 2022 I think I’ll start booking places abroad that I’d like to visit as I mentioned earlier. The top of my list is definitely a holiday to Greece and then do some short city breaks such as Rome and get Dublin re-scheduled.
