What highlighter are you wearing? Which one shall I try? Is questions I get asked occasionally and lets face it, we all love a good highlighter. A touch of radiance and glow to the face really does compliment your makeup so today I’m sharing my Top 5 favourite highlighters…
I’ve decided to focus on powders ranging from £15 – £30. These may seem pricey but most of these here are like my second or third buy in the last couple of years, so they are pretty long lasting! I’ve featured a mix of champagne golds, peaches and iridescent shimmer. So there should be a highlighter here for everyone!
I’m going to start with my two ultimate favourites here! Mary-Lou Manizer by The Balm and Bar of Gold by Charlotte Tilbury. I’ve mentioned these two so much on my blog, so my readers will definitely know these are my usual go-to products. I was first introduced to Bar of Gold last year as one of my birthday presents and 8 months later, I can’t put it down. I’m only about half way through this product but I bought a new one which si featured in the photos because its limited edition. Out of the five products, I’d say this is the most pigmented, which it should be as its the most expensive out of the bunch. It’s a stunning champagne gold that’s creamy and blends lovely with all foundations. It also looks great as eyeshadow too.
Mary-Lou on the other hand is more of a soft pearl sheen. Slightly golden but the texture of this is incredible, its a cult favourite and its not hard to see why. If your wanting to try a new highlighter or your new to this, this product is perfect to start off with!
So if your after a more rose gold or peach tone highlighter Urban Decay and Mac do a great range! Urban Decay’s Naked Illuminated in Aura is a stunning highlighter. Now, this is the most shimmery product out of the 5. It’s more of a light peach dusting shimmer like fairy dust. If your wanting an all over body glitter, then this is for you.
Mac’s Soft & Gentle is another cult favourite, every girl who loves mac will probably have this. Its a dreamy mix of a highlighter and a bronzer. So if your wanting something more subtle, then this would be great! I love the golden sheen in this though, it just has speckles of gold just like Mac’s Show Gold. In person, this looks like a pink highlighter but on closer inspection you can see the shimmer of gold in the sunlight. If you love a blush, then this pairs lovely with them. More subtle but if you want this to stand out, you need to apply quite a bit, its not as pigmented as the others.
What I can say about all these though is that I’d definitely buy them all again. I can wear these with BB cream, medium or full coverage foundations and I can always always achieve a good contour with these top 5 highlighters. If your after a new highlighter or fancy trying something new, do let me know if one of these end up in your shopping basket. Or if you use one of these already , I hope you love them as much as I do!
