With Halloween just around the corner, the ultimate question is what are you going as? So the next question is what makeup do you need? I’ve picked my favourite makeup pieces that will suit most Halloween looks…
Depending what look you’re going for whether its gory and scary or fairytale and feminine its important to pick the right makeup that will last the whole night.
So before we start on makeup I personally think a set of nails really does create your overall look. For a while I’ve loved using the Kiss ImPress press-on manicure. These are AMAZING if you are in a rush but you want to create a gorgeous manicure in 5 minutes. I honestly swear by these especially for work, there’s no mess involved the nails have glue attached inside ready so it’s just the case of holding the false nail down till its set. So for the Halloween look I’ve picked two dark nail looks in a matte navy with gold speckles (Bells & Whistles) and a deep burgundy with gold glitter (Power Up).
For this Halloween inspired look I also used Bolsius rustic metallic candles – these are perfect for Christmas posts too.
Anyway so let’s get to the makeup. Halloween is an excuse to be as adventurous as you want with makeup and that includes a bright lipstick! I’ve picked three that I’ve worn in the past or are my top faves. Mac Media is usually my go-to for Halloween, it’s a deep purple that looks a little much for a typical night out but for halloween its perfect. I wore this as a Zombie Bride. If you still want to wear red (like why not) I love the colour of Antipodes Forest Berry Red. It’s super creamy and has a pink tone if you want something girly.
If you’re a bright fuchsia kinda girl you’ll love Urban Decay Firebird. In the packaging it looks a dark purple but applied it’s a stunning colour in person. This would be great if you were going as a fairy or something like that…
I think eyeshadow is a major part of a Halloween makeup look. It can create amazing eye looks but can also be used for shadowing and defying contour. The Alice in Wonderland eyeshadow palette by Urban Decay is a palette that has a great range of colours. You can create so many looks with this such as a fairy, ice queen with the bright shades. The pigmentation of these are incredible too, with some matte and shimmer.
If you aren’t an expert on eyeshadow I would definitely say Smoky is a good palette to start with. You can create a range of dark looks with this, I’ll br using this for a vampire inspired look. You could event do a skeleton with the dark shades in this and amplify your contours.
Something I’ve been recently trying is the cream eyeshadow by 3INA. This pearly pink shade is beautiful as a top coat depending on your chosen costume. I think this could create a pretty highlighter too. Speaking of highlighter, my favourite is a golden sheen but for Halloween I’ll be wearing the Mary-Lou Manizer with it having a bright pearl finish. I can see this being a great product for a skeleton look if you want something more white.
If you wear false lashes, the Kiss Mightnight Lashes are perfect for a dramatic volumising look. Or if you’re like me and tend to wear just mascara, I’d definitely go for the Lancome Monsieur Big if you want extra volume and definition or the Urban Decay Troublemaker if you want long and curly lashes.
So that’s my makeup picks For Halloween! This year I’m going as Zombie Elsa – Frozen to death. As you can see there’s some gorgeous blue shades in the palette above, check back on Friday to see a Instagram tutorial video on it. What products will you be using? Let me know what you’re going as in the comments below…
